Bonjour!
21 01 2008So you might be jealous because I’m in France but don’t be. So far it’s been a fairly shitty trip. Where do I begin?
Okay, how about when I left for France. You see, on my way to the airport on Saturday I found out I would be travelling alone because my coworker lost his passport. Great.
I was shocked at first but eventually got over it because I realized I was a big girl and should be able to handle stuff like this. So the actually travelling wasn’t that bad, just long and tiring. WP, the coworker with the lost passport, was very apologetic and went out of his way to make sure everything was set for me in France.
However, even he could not forsee that my luggage would be left in Chicago while I travelled to Lyon. Yeah, my bags did not go around the luggage carousel and I had a mini break down. I’m not proud but what was I to do? I was exhausted and wanted fresh clothes and to not smell. And, I wasn’t originally supposed to go on this trip so the mini-breakdown was warrented.
Anyways, WP made the arragements for me to stay at the Hilton, they are wonderful by the way because they let me check in early. Upon getting to the hotel I took a much needed nap and then bravely ventured to the hotel restaurant for some grub. I had to eat alone and I’m fairly sure everyone was making fun of me but the food was good. I had duck breast with foie gras and a sweet potato tart thingy.
When I was strolling through the lobby to the elevators I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. I did a double-take and saw it was my bags!!! I could clean myself and I don’t think I’ve ever been as happy as I was at the moment.
So, my travel woes are over (hopefully, I still have to get back to the US) and now begins the problems at the job site. I’m not going to get into it because it will bore you but let’s just say it sucks the big one.
Because I know you want pictures, here are some of my view from the hotel and of my breakfast this morning (I love room service!):
As you can all see, I haven’t got to see much in Lyon. Hopefully tomorrow I will get out.
Oh and if you couldn’t tell, I ordered some All Bran for breakfast. Apparently in my sleep deprived state I decided I needed fiber. I didn’t and I still don’t.
No one was laughing at you!
And glad to see you’re staying regular while abroad.
so glad you are ok, great view by the way!! All Bran? what were you thinking?? hehehe! Hope the hilton had the super comfy beds and you ate foie gras?? what did it taste like?? call me when you get home!!
You my friend do not need an all bran breakfast! Haha.
